Guard Break Reduction is a property of shields and any other item that can be used to block incoming attacks in Demon's Souls. Blocking an attack drains a portion of the defender's stamina depending on the damage and weight of the attack(s) being blocked; guard break reduction directly reduces the stamina damage from successfully blocked attacks. Generally, shields have better guard break reduction than weapons; additionally, only shields will gain increased guard break reduction via upgrading. A shield's base guard break reduction is generally higher the heavier the shield is.
