When the Slayer of Demons dies, their soul, being bound to the Nexus, is unable to leave the mortal plane. In order to return to their body, they must either use a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes, or kill a demon and take its soul. Other ways to regain their body includes killing the Host as a Black Phantom or having the Resurrection miracle used on you as a phantom.
